About MeI have been an educator for just over 20 years in a variety of school settings (from dual-immersion charter schools, to visual performing arts schools, to inner-city Oakland public schools, to high performing Marin County schools). I received my undergraduate degree from UC Berkeley and my master’s degree in Curriculum Design and Instruction from San Diego State. I am also GATE certified through the Rossier School of Education at USC. Before coming to NOVA, I created a school-wide academic intervention program at a local school in Novato. I am bilingual in Spanish and obtained my teaching credential while studying abroad in Mexico for a year. My “pleasure reading” consists of books that relate to creativity and student achievement such as The Learning Habit, Mindset, and How Children Succeed.

What I Love About NOVA We all deserve a quality education, we just don’t all have to be on the same path. We are all individuals with specific needs, interests, and abilities -- and should attend school where we will thrive. I look forward to creating individualized learning paths and collaborating with students to form meaningful instruction.
The structure at NOVA allows for the opportunity to work one-on-one with the teacher. Large class sizes often result in having to split and redirect attention to a multitude of learners. One-on-one learning allows for full engagement, an opportunity for constructive feedback and the ability to collaborate in a way that meets the needs of the student. |
